Westminster Coroner's Court Garden of Remembrance

This small stone garden was built for the bereaved visiting Westminster Coroner's Court, in 2018. It consists of a salvaged limestone fountain, new sandstone paving, and four new precast concrete elements. Three new concrete planters  also act as seats. An enigmatic precast concrete monument is mounted onto the wall of the 1970s mortuary building. The project is deliberately mimetic of the niches and bays of the neighbouring Victorian buildings, extending this architectural language to create a dignified and sombre counterpoint to the Coroner's Court. Planting was designed by Richard Nye.
